Toad, the UK’s premier vehicle and motorcycle solutions company, has developed Text-Alert; a system designed to alert vehicle owners, via text message, that their possession is being tampered with.
Toad’s Text-Alert system also has a web-based tracking facility, and priced at ?199.99 offers unprecedented security and cost effective peace of mind.
Text-Alert automatically sends a text message to the owner’s mobile ‘phone in the event of the vehicle is being tampered with. What makes the Text-Alert system unique is that it uses a GSM modem, rather than a cell ‘phone, to make the call. This has two major advantages over previous text systems; firstly, it is compact and easy to fit (just three wires to connect) and secondly it uses minimal current draw, at just 1mA, so it won’t put excessive strain on the battery.
The Toad Text-Alert also allows the owner to track their vehicle on a web-based system that is accurate to 30 metres in built up areas.
Toad’s Text-Alert is ideal for vehicles that are routinely parked out of earshot, e.g. left outside flats, offices, hotels, in town, in lock-ups and adds another layer of security.
Text-Alert is highly flexible and can be programmed via the owner’s mobile ‘phone. That means it can be re-directed to text a friend or neighbour should the owner leave their vehicle at home while on holiday for example. Text-Alert utilises an Orange pre-pay SIM card, offering Europe-wide coverage. The only operating cost will be the standard Orange text charge per trigger or command.
Owners will receive up to three alerts per trigger, after which the system must be re-set via the ignition. This minimises the cost to the owner while maintaining a high level of security. The system will also send a text alert if the battery runs low, giving the owner an opportunity to re-charge the battery or connect to Toad battery optimiser.
